Conclusion

In conclusion, there are alternatives to animal experimentation that should be considered as a replacement. Innocent creatures are killed as a result of these unnecessary experiments and therefore, animal testing is unacceptable. The government funds for these experiments, spending outrageous amounts of money, while this money could be better funded for more important matters such as education. Animals are living creatures as well as humans and should not be tortured.

Animal testing is not totally reliable

Animals that are subjects in experimentation have multiple chemicals and products tested on them. After one product has been tested and results are received, the scientists perform another experiment on the same animal. As a result of these multiple experiments on a single animal, the medicines or chemicals used in the animal’s body may cause reactions to each other and it could make an inaccurate result. Also, these experiments could consist of anything from poison to cutting the animals open such as vivisections. As a result, it could cause very dangerous problems when used to humans.

Animal testing is a waste of time and money

In the United States, the government provides funding for the numerous experiments that are conducted on thousands of animals each day. In fact, the government wastes 14 billion dollars a year for biomedical research. In addition to this large sum of money spent, it costs another 500 million dollars for the product to even become fully approved each year. If it costs this much money to provide research and approve one drug, imagine the surfeit amount of money it costs for one thousand drugs to be tested and approved. It is too much money to even say. While the government pays for this experimentation, it is essentially paying for millions of animals to die. Instead of their money being funded toward animal torture, the money could be better spent by putting it toward a charity or a cure for AIDS. The billions of dollars spent on the torture of animals would be better spent in preventive medicine and education.

Experimentation is the cause for the death of thousands of innocent animals

In 2000, the total numbers of 2,714,800 animals were used in experimentations in UK. This is an unbelievably enormous amount of animal’s lives. However, the proponent side argues that without animal testing, the medical field would not be as knowledgeable about treatments such as chemotherapy, which saves about 70% of children with lymphocytic leukemia. The opposing side's point is certainly understandable. However, experimentation is said to be done in order to save human lives by using new drugs and medical procedures. There are alternatives to animal experimentation, the technology today allows scientists to be able to rid of experimentation and find a new way of testing. Innocent animals should not have to be harmed or killed. If the technology to go into space exists, then an alternative to this torture exists as well.

Animals have rights to life as much as humans

Animals do have rights to live their own life, not being controlled and tested on force to make advantage of humans. Apparently, animal rights activists have opposed to using animals for medical experiments. This is because humans don’t have the right to use animals on such invasive and injurious experiments. It is said that we do not experiment on human subjects without their consent. Just as we do not experiment on humans who are incapable of consenting to experimentation, we should not experiment on non-human animals. In the United States, there seem to be certain minimum requirements for the humane treatment of non-human animals in laboratories, but in fact is very ineffective. By the chance of this, there are also animal cruelties happening in science labs during the experiments. The government must put more strong limitations and laws to stop this and protect the animal rights.

Introduction

Animal testing is widely used to prevent the danger of producing harmful medicines or products to human being. This process of experimentation was first discovered by Aristotle (384-322 BC) according to the writings of Greek philosopherphysicians of the third and fourth centuries BC. Animal testing got more common and accepted during the 18th and 19th centuries. Now, it is almost legal to test medicines and even cleaning products on living animals. In this brief 2 blog, I will be discussing why animal testing is unacceptable with several reasons referring to some facts and information I collected from the internet.
